Are you interested in becoming a member of the Council of Elders?
Wilp Si'ayuukhl Nisga'a (WSN) recently amended the Nisga'a Government Act to simplify and streamline the process of identifying and appointing members to the Council of Elders. With the amendment, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will maintain a roster of persons who meet the qualifications and are prepared to accept an appointment as a member of the Council of Elders.
In order to qualify, you must be:
- A Nisga'a Citizen
- A Sim'oogit, Sigidimnak' or other respected Nisga'a Elder
- At lease 60 years of age or older
- Willing to complete a criminal records check
- Willing to hold office as a member of the Council of Elders for a minimum two-year term
