This September, Children and Youth will be led by Simgiigat and Sigidimhaanak to their respective schools in a symbolic gesture at the beginning of the new school year.

Last year, Simgigaat and Sigidimhanaak marched from the Gitmidiik Auditorium to Nisga'a Elementary/Secondary School. During the ceremony the talking stick was presented to the Principal, to signify the huwilp transferring learning and care to the school.

Expanding on the succes of last year, the organizers have partnered with local village governments and school district 92 to convene a similar event in each community.
