Gitlaxt'aamiks Aboriginal Day Festivities

June 19th marked another successful annual Aboriginal Day celebration in Gitlaxt'aamiks hosted by the Gitlaxt'aamiks Village Government and the Gitlaxt'aamiks Elders.

The day was filled with activities for children of all ages beginning with the parade at 11am.  First Place honours were awarded to Nisga'a Lisims Government's "Reach For The Stars" gold, black and white coloured theme.  The youthful and colourful energy of the School District #92 NESS elementary students and staff placed second and Gitlaxt'aamiks Operations & Maintenance Department placed third.

The festivities carried on throughout the afternoon at the Gitlaxt'aamiks Recreation Centre grounds.  Delicious foods of all varieties were on sale, several arts and crafts vendor tables were set up, children enjoyed the bouncy castles and adults challenged each other in a variety of talents.
