BACK TO SCHOOL MARCH

Dear parents,

We are looking forward to our annual ‘Back to School’ walk. This very special ceremony highlights the concerted efforts of the communities; our Elders and Matriarchs, our families, The Nisga’a Valley Health Authority, Gitlaxt'aamiks Social Development, Nisga’a Lisims Government, Justice, the 4 Village Governments, and our school district.

This is a unique opportunity to welcome our children back to school, with respect to the Nisga’a culture and values. The Back to School March highlights the vision of the Elders in their drive to provide a strong education to our youth.

We are including the regular bus schedule for school year 2012-2013, and also a specific bus schedule for the Back to school walk.

Each village will assume transportation for the adults. You may contact the Home-school Coordinator and/or Educational Representative in charge of this particular event for details.

I am taking this opportunity to make an important announcement, because the news travel so fast in the valley. Our District received confirmation from the Ministry of Education that Gingolx will finally get a new school for September 2013. But, there is no change for this September; our students will attend school in the same premises. There will be an official announcement in the weeks to come.

We look forward to a fantastic school year and hope to see you at the march.
