Nisga'a Day 2019
A Nisga'a Day ceremony was held on May 11, 2019 during the Emergency Preparedness Conference at the Gitlaxt'aamiks Recreation Centre. Brian Tait, Executive Chairperson for the Nisga'a Lisims Government, acted as Emcee for the proceedings. President Eva Clayton offered remarks, commenting on how it was fitting to recognize Nisga'a Day during a conference dedicated to Emergency Preparedness.
"It is through the foresight of our negotiators of the Nisg̱a’a Treaty that the Nisg̱a’a Nation is the designated local authority on Nisg̱a’a Lands," President Clayton said, "and it is very important that we continue to educate and prepare ourselves for the myriad of hazards that surround us."
The ceremony was concluded with a prayer by Pastor Damien Azak and cakes bearing the Nisga'a flag.
