Nisga'a Fisheries & Wildlife Marine Poster Contest 2009

What I love about the Coastal marine waters surrounding the Nass Estuary, and neighboring waters.

Do you enjoy the surf, angle for fish and crab, or hike along the beach?

Use your creativity to make a poster that shows why the ocean is important to you.

Winners will be announced August 20, 2009.

Guidelines:

Poster content must reflect the ocean environment on the Coast of Nisga'a Traditional Waters

The submitted art will show:

  1. how people enjoy the ocean and/or
  2. ocean creatures, features, and/or habitat

Only original artwork will be accepted

  • Words are not permitted
  • Line drawings are allowed, bust must be in dark ink, not pencil
  • Poster should be two dimensional (flat surface) using the artists choice of medium or media (crayon, paint, ink
  • No digital images or submissions will be accepted
  • Calendar, magazine, website or photographic images are not permitted

Eligibility

Nisga'a Youth Groups or Nisga'a ages 6 to 20

Size:

Minimum size is 21.5 cm x 28 cm (8.5" x 11")

Maximum size is 28 cm x 43 cm (11" x 17")

A blank 2.54 cm (1 inch) border is required around the outside of the poster.

Prizes:

First prize: $100

Second prize: $50

Third Prize: $25

Honorable mention: $20

Information Required:

On the back of each poster tape a typed sheet of paper clearly indicating:

  1. Artist(s) name in full,
  2. Grade
  3. Contact address or phone
  4. One to three sentences on what you love about the ocean.

Intent:
To use winning images from Contest in Government publications, including print and/or electronic media (e.g. newsletter, website, poster).

Copyright:

All poster submissions will remain the property of the Nisga'a Lisims Government with full credit and recognition of the artist(s). Originals will not be returned.

Deadline:

Posters must be received by 4:00 pm on August 19, 2009. Note: Do not roll or fold posters (please submit flat).

Judging:

Conducted by a panel of Nisga'a Lisims Government employees.
