From May 24-26, 2024 the Tears to Hope Society hosted their 6th Annual 'Tears to Hope Relay' throughout the Northwest.  There was roughly 216 Runners who participated throughout the entire weekend.  There was an option to participate in the 10km In-Person Relay Run or 10km or 5km Virtual Run.

In the In-Person Relay there were 4 routes:

  1. Prince Rupert Route which had 3 Nisg̱a'a Runners
  2. Smithers Route
  3. Nass Valley Route which had 8 Nisg̱a'a Runners and 1 Virtual Runner
  4. Kitamaat Village Route

"The 6th annual Tears to Hope Relay Run is May 24, 25 & 26. It aims to bring awareness to the on-going national crisis of MMIWG. The in-person event is a 10km relay run, taking place in picturesque Northern BC, from Prince Rupert, Gingolx, Smithers & Kitimaat Village, ending in Terrace, BC. The virtual option allows you to Run or Walk, 5K or 10K, from wherever you are." - Tears to Hope Society.  More information can be found here: https://tearstohopesociety.com/runners-section/

The Nisg̱a'a Nation recognizes the awareness spread to missing and murdered indigenous women, girls, men and boys as the sensitivity of this is near and dear to some of our Nisg̱a'a families who have been affected by this with their past loved ones.  To be able to spread awareness and generate healing through movement is indeed powerful. Sa'aamhl wilin! (Keep up the good work!)
