Wilp Si’ayuuḵhl Nisga’a adjourns its July sitting with unanimous passing of audited statements

 

July 30, 2018 – Gitlax̱t’aamiks, B.C., Wilp Si’ayuuḵhl Nisg̱a’a convened its July Summer sitting with the passing of the audit it’s primary agenda item.

The summer sitting, originally scheduled to be two days, adjourned on the first day with the unanimous passing of the audited financial statements of Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. 

The draft Independent Auditors Report issued by Deloitte states, in part “In our opinion, the consolidated financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Nisg̱a’a Lisims Government as at March 31, 2018 and the results of its operations, changes in its net financial assets and its cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with Canadian public sector accounting standards.”

The audited financial statements will be made available on the Nisg̱a’a LIsims Government website at www.nisgaanation.ca/audited-financial-statements          

Nisg̱a’a Youth from the Nisg̱a’a Village of Gitwinksihlkw were also in attendance and received a warm welcome from the House. 

Speaker Craig McKay also extended a warm welcome back to the House to recently elected Ging̱olx Village Councillor Gwen Nelson.  Nelson was declared elected in the June 2018 by-election.
