Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline Projec

NASWG has determined that the proposed Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipeline is not in the interest of the Nisga’a Nation and NLG does not support this project. Proposed tanker traffic could significantly and adversely affect Nisga’a Treaty interests which, in the view of NLG, cannot be reconciled with Nisga’a rights under the Treaty. NLG has communicated its opposition to this project in writing and has also expressed this message directly to the federal government at an in-camera presentation at the Assembly of First Nations gathering in Ottawa.

Projects currently under assessment: the Kitsault Mine and the Kerr-Sulphurets Mitchell Mine. For all projects, NLG participate in the technical working groups evaluating the environmental and Treaty impacts.
