Nisg̱a’a Nation leadership meet with Premier Eby and Cabinet Ministers in Vancouver this week

President Eva Clayton, the NLG Executive and Nisg̱a’a Village Governments joined the 9th annual BC Cabinet – First Nations Leadership Gathering in Vancouver this week.

The speed dating-like format of the ministerial meetings saw First Nations from across British Columbia converge at the Vancouver Convention Centre November 29 & 30, 2022.

Nisg̱a’a Lisims and Nisg̱a’a Village Government officials in attendance participated in nearly 30 meetings with Premier Eby and Cabinet Ministers to address a broad number of topics including advancing Ksi Lisims LNG, advanced education, education and child care, emergency preparedness and children and family development, the need to upgrade the Cranberry Connector and vital Nisg̱a’a Highway 113 improvments.

President Clayton also joined her colleagues on the Alliance of Modern BC Treaty Nations and the First Nations Climate Initiative to collaboratively advance those initiatives forward with Premier David Eby.

In her November 21, 2022 congratulatory letter to BC’s 37th Premier, President Clayton said, “The Nisg̱a’a Nation’s vision of a viable, sustainable economy within Nisg̱a’a Lands, the Nass Area and in northern British Columbia requires the Province of British Columbia as a vital partner. We look forward to working with you to advance these important objectives.”
