The Council of Elders hosted a Nisg̱a’a Elders & Youth Forum themed ’Bridging the Generations’ in the Nisg̱a’a Village of Lax̱g̱alts’ap March 14, 15 & 16, 2017.

As described at www.internationalwomensday.com, March 8, 2017 marks International Women's Day - a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.

To commemorate a great day, here is our message:

The Tyee: To Support Indigenous Youth, MLA Melanie Mark Shares Her Own Struggle

We Matter has been collecting multimedia stories from people across Canada to offer support to Indigenous youth going through hard times.

This video features NDP MLA Melanie Mark, who shares her own story of dealing with bullying growing up and the time she attempted suicide at 19. It could have been lethal, Mark said, but she reached out to an aunt last minute.

“You have to let people know that you need the help,” she said.

The 58th Annual All Native Basketball Tournament was another one for the books for all the veteren athletes and the fast upcoming young all stars. From fundamentals to techniques, being a team player, all teams showed heart, courage, and respect for their opponents as a taught tradition in local tournaments and the ANBT.
