GITMAXMAK’AY NISGA’A ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

REQUEST FOR LOGO DESIGN

The Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a Economic Development Corporation (GNEDC) is currently accepting logo designs from First Nations artists.

The GNEDC is the business arm of the Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a Society. The Society is seeking First Nations artists to design a logo for the newly created GNEDC.

The Nisga'a Nation strives for sustainable prosperity and self-reliance.

To achieve this goal, Nisga'a Nation wishes to attract sustainable economic development, including LNG projects, to our area.  The package attached is a preliminary description of available LNG sites on the Portland Inlet waterway, near the Nass River, on Canada’s west coast, north of Prince Rupert.

Hobiyee celebrations return to Laxgalts’ap (Greenville) after five years of the event making the rounds through the Nisga’a communities who each took turns hosting it.

All four Nass Valley villages have groups performing during the two-day event and travelling into town for the event are groups from Prince Rupert, Vancouver, Terrace and Kitamaat.

The Nisga’a Museum is currently open for school, group tours and delegations by appointment from now until May 11, 2014.

Nisga’a citizens, including elders are welcome to visit the Ancestors’ Collection anytime however advance notice is required.

Nisga'a Highway OPEN - Gingolx to Laxgalts'ap

The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed today that the evening road closures of the Nisga’a Highway between Gingolx and Laxgalts’ap will no longer be required effective this evening.  The highway is now and will continue to be open to two lane traffic.

Aama hiihlukw!  More recent update from www.drivebc.ca indicates the road is open to single lane alternating traffic, still between 8:30am - 4:30pm.  Another update should be provided by mid-day today - Friday, January 17.

NLG Photographer Fiegehen Hosts Vancouver Photo Exhibit

From January 28 to February 16, longtime photographer to Nisga'a Nation Gary Fiegehen will be hosting an exhibit of his photos in Vancouver at the Silk Purse Arts Centre 1570 Argyle Avenue, West Vancouver.

The exhibit, called Sticks & Stones, presents his personal work and honours the influence of the master photographers Minor White and Edward Weston. Their photographs and writings offered critical encouragement along the way.
