2024 NASS RIVER SALMON AND SUMMER-RUN STEELHEAD STOCK ASSESSMENT WEEKLY UPDATE  –  MONDAY, 22 JULY

Attached is the first in-season weekly email update for Nass River salmon and summer-run steelhead stock assessments for 2024 (PDF format) from the Nisga'a Fisheries and Wildlife Department and provides the following updates from June 1 to July 22:

1. Nass River environmental and count data from fishwheel, Meziadin fishway and Kwinageese weir operations.
2. Nass River fishwheel catch and tagging summary.
3. Preliminary Run size projections to Gitwinksihlkw fishwheels and net escapement estimates for Nass salmon and summer-run steelhead.
4. Preliminary harvest estimates for Nass salmon and summer-run steelhead in commercial and Nisga’a fisheries.
5. Preliminary Total Return to Canada (TRTC) and Nisga’a Treaty entitlement estimates for Nass salmon.

NFWD’s Nass weekly updates are emailed once per week from now to mid-September. Please email us if you want to be removed from email distribution or names to add.

All data presented in this update are preliminary and subject to change with further assessment information and analyses.
