Nisga'a Moose Hunting Season 2013/14

As prescribed by the Nisga'a Annual Wildlife Management Plan, the Nisga'a moose allocation is 25 bull moose.  The moose harvest season will be from December 1, 2013 - January 15, 2014.

Nisga'a hunters that planned to hunt for moose in the Nass Wildlife Area (NWA) were required to submit their names and hunting licence numbers to the Nisga'a Fisheries and Wildlife Department office by November 8, 2013.

A total of 80 Nisga'a hunters submitted their names to the Nisga'a Fisheries and Wildlife Department, which required the department to do a computerized draw to randomly award the 25 permits.  The random draw was conducted by the department on November 15, 2013 and the 25 Nisga'a hunters have been notified.

For data tracking purposes, the 25 Nisga'a hunters are also required to report to the Wildlife Monitor the days and locations they plan to be out hunting.  There are also reporting requirements if they successfully harvest a moose.

Once Nisga'a hunters meet the reporting requirements following a kill, they are entered into a money draw to be conducted at the end of the hunting season.
