Nisga'a Youth Engagement Coordinator

Under the Directorate of Communications & Intergovernmental Relations, the Youth Engagement Coordinator will serve as a liaison between Nisga'a Government and Nisga'a Youth resident in the Nisga'a Villages of Gingolx, Laxgalts'ap, Gitwinksihlkw, and Gitlaxt'aamiks and the 3 Nisga'a Urban Local areas of Terrace, Prince Rupert-Port Edward and Vancouver. The Coordinator will be instrumental in mobilizing, maintaining, and mentoring an evolving network of Nisga'a Youth who demonstrate interest in enhancing their knowledge of the Nisga'a Treaty, Nisga'a Government and Nisga'a Language and Culture. The Coordinator will also encourage and guide Nisga'a Youth who are keenly interested inn advocating for the social, economic and educational issues that impact their daily lives with all levels of Nisga'a Government (NLG, Nisga'a Villages & Nisga'a Urban Locals). The Coordinator will also facilitate the review of existing Nisga'a Youth initiatives and programs (ie. "Youth Organizing Youth") and provide recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in Nisga'a Youth program delivery to Nisga'a Lisims Government. The Coordinator will also develop a network with external Indigenous youth organizations to research and learn from best practices in youth engagement.
