Lest We Forget - Remembrance Day

Today - November 8, 2013 – marks National Aboriginal Veterans Day in Canada.  A day to honour and remember the thousands of Indian, Inuit and Metis Canadians that served in World War I forward.  Many Nisga’a citizens proudly contributed to Canadian wartime efforts, among them we remember and honour:

Nisga'a In the Media re individual landholding project

CBC's radio program The Current aired a documentary entitled 'This Land Is My Land' on Monday November 4 which resulted in additional media coverage with respect to the Nisga'a individual landholding project.

Quality of Life online survey

The Nisga'a Nation Quality of Life Strategy will:

  1. Engage Nisga'a citizens and resources through a Quality of Life Summit
  2. Align Governance, Administration, Programs and Services with a quality of life approach
  3. Develop a life-long quality of life policy
  4. Document, measure and prove changes in quality of life

Aboriginal Skills, Employment and Training program more accessible for Nisga’a Citizens in the northwest

Gitlaxt’aamiks, BC, November 1, 2013 – Skills, employment and training services will now be more accessible for Nisga’a citizens in the northwest as Nisga’a Lisims Government entered into an agreement with Employment & Social Development Canada (“ESDC”) earlier this week for the delivery of ESDC’s Aboriginal Skills, Employment and Training program.
