Flood Risk and Personal Preparedness

Flooding is a common, naturally occurring event throughout British Columbia.  This season, unusually high snow packs have raised the risk and potential for flooding.  Nisga‚Äôa Lisims Government continues to monitor the rate at which snowpack levels are melting and its subsequent affect on river levels.

The following tips from Emergency Management B.C. are shared with residents province-wide:

To: All Nisga’a Citizens

You may have heard Wilp Luuxhon and Chief Luuxon of the Gitanyow Nation has issued a press release concerning a potential interference with the operation of the Cranberry Connector on May 30, 2012.

Nisga’a Nation has constitutionally protected Treaty rights as set out in the Nisga’a Final Agreement which will remain unaffected by any such actions.

Nass Valley student wins poster contest

THE Lisims/Nass Valley RCMP are pleased to announce that a local kindergarten student has won a nationwide W.I.T.S. (Walk Away, Ignore, Talk it Out, Seek Help) poster contest that was held on February 28.

Hannah Nisyok, 5, is a kindergarten student at Nisga'a Elementary Secondary School (NESS).

Hannah and her classmates all submitted artwork with the theme of bullying prevention.
