Amid growing dissatisfaction with the slow pace of recovery, Japan marked the second anniversary Monday of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that left nearly 19,000 people dead or missing and has displaced more than 300,000.

A fishing boat owned by a Japanese couple and lost in the 2011 tsunami has brought two women from opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean together after the small vessel was discovered washed up on the B.C. coast.

The eulachon fishery in northwest B.C. is rebounding after a few rough years but the fishery now has a new challenge — a lack of workers.

Terrace Standard: Province boosts skills training assistance

THE PROVINCE says it has found $2 million to provide in the form of grants worth up to $6,500 each for students enrolled in specific skill development programs at Northwest Community College and other institutions.
